Dear Lillih,
basically this play I think works when besides the dark tone of many of the scenes (they all deal with loss and possible redemption/salvation – but that’s where the “acrobatics” takes place – between these two things) you also have the humour and the theatrical playfulness in those situations. So these characters have to be there – not to comment upon. That’s when it becomes more and more intense.
